The Headless Hunt
Sunday, October 28, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (MST)
Call it an Alley Cat Race. Call it a Bicycle Scavenger Hunt. Call it the MOST FUN you may have on your bike all year. We call it the Headless Hunt. Why? Because you are not allowed to do it alone (We are El Grupo, you know!). Because more than one head trying to figure out how to best navigate the downtown area may feel like you have no head at all. Because it is Halloween weekend, and you may imagine yourself (or dress up yourself) to be chasing after things that you didn't know existed...or maybe they are chasing you?!
Come find out what everyone talks about all year & support an organization empowering youth through bicycles:The 9th Annual Bicycle Scavenger Hunt will be on October, 28th, 2012 presented by El Grupo. The super fun, challenging and yet also family-friendly event will start at 9am SHARP at Playground Bar & Lounge.
You bring your bike (and friends!). We will give you a map of the downtown area. On the back you will find 10 riddles to solve and 10 objects to find. You will race, ride or gallop (at your chosen pace!) within a 3 mile radius of downtown searching for the objects, tackling feats of strength and stupidity. Family distance will include only 5 locations within a 1.5 mile radius. With all the objects in hand, you will return, race, dash to the finish for your team's time and some good ol' celebrations....as in HUB Ice Cream and/or a local brew at Playground!
Individuals: You sign up as individuals, but the "head-less" hunt must be tackled in duos (male, female or co-ed) or 3+ person teams (male, female or co-ed). Teams are announced the day-of (whether pre-planned or spontaneously). This is for those who are looking for a challenge and some serious fun. Expect to ride 15-25 miles in 1.5-2.5 hours, depending on your street smarts, speed and determination or delightful distractions.
Family Fun: A "Family" must contain at least one individual under 12 years old. Up to 4 family members included, please add $5 for each additional family member via Donation. Family distance riders can expect to ride 5-8 miles in 1.5-2 hours, depending on your street smarts, speed and determination or delightful distractions.
Start & Finish will be at Playground Bar & Lounge (next to HUB Restaurant & Creamery)
Sunday, October 28th - the Hunt begins at 9am. Check in from 8am-8:45am.
How to sign up?
Or pay an extra $10 at day-of registration at Playground 8am-8:45am

When & Where
El Grupo Youth Cycling
Our mission is to empower youth through bicycles.
El Grupo supports empowering over 600 youth annually that are underserved or simply uninspired and giving them something positive to be excited about, as well as self-confidence.
Through our programs (Team El Grupo & Youth Empowering Youth outreach), we are getting youth on bikes, and they in turn are teaching, inspiring and empowering other youth to ride, enjoy and love bikes. El Grupo uses the bicycle as a means for positive development for at-risk or underserved youth that would not otherwise have healthy, skill-building, and goal-oriented activities in their lives. Through donations from the community, El Grupo provides all bikes, equipment, clothing and gear to youth.
We embrace all forms of cycling from road and mountain bike racing to bicycle touring and daily commuting.
El Grupo is developing the next generation of active, healthy, and community-minded cycling enthusiasts and leaders in Tucson.
